CASA Twelve Steps Update!

CASA ~~ Christians Against Substance Addiction ~~ ‘The Real Deal
CASA Twelve-Steps Program & Related Holy Bible Scriptures
"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” ~~ John 8:32

The Complete Serenity Prayer: “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace. Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it. Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life, and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen!” ~ By Reinhold Neibuhr ~

Divinely inspired by our Lord Jesus Christ, CASA (‘home’ or ‘house’ in Spanish) stands for Christians Against Substance Addiction. CASA is a progressive Christian recovery group that advocates personal involvement in community action for our continued sober recovery and spiritual liberty. The CASA 12-Steps Program is based upon the original AA 12-Steps Program, general guidelines and humane-spiritual principles. We support AA, NA, DRA and all positive self-help groups based upon the basic 12-Steps Program.

As addicted Christians Against Substance Addiction, we wage spiritual warfare against all forms of drug addiction and boldly claim Our Creator God as Our Highest Power! We concentrate on our daily sobriety, continued recovery, and spiritual liberty one day at a time. We seek inner serenity, true happiness and the end to suffering from all formsof drug addiction.

Herein are the CASA 12-Steps and Holy Bible Scriptures we worked, which are recommended as a Progressive Recovery Program:

1. We admitted we were powerless over our drug addiction—that our lives had become unmanageable.
Matthew 9:36 ~ “But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.”

2. We came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
Philippians 2:13 ~ “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."

3. We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of Creator God, as we understood Him.
Luke 9:23 ~ “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”

4. We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves, taking stock of our assets and liabilities. Romans 8:27 ~ “And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”

5. We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another humane being the exact nature of our wrongs.
James 5:16 ~ “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

6. We were entirely ready to have God remove all these character defects. I John 1:9 ~ “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

7. We humbly asked Him on our knees to remove our shortcomings.
James 4:10 ~”Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.”

8. We made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
Matthew 6:14-15 ~ “For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

9. We made direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. Matthew 5:24 ~ “Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled with thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.”
10. We continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it, while recognizing our continued progressive recovery. Romans 12:3 ~ "For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”

11. We sought through prayer, meditation and study to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us, and the Power to carry that out. Mark 12:30 ~ “And thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.”

12. We tried to carry this Message to addicts and practice these principles in all our affairs; having had a ‘Spiritual Awakening’ as a result of working these 12-Steps. Galatians 6:1 ~ "Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also shall be tempted.”

Comment: The CASA 12-Steps Program is a simple program for complicated people with a Spiritual Foundation. HOW it works is with Honesty, Openness and Willingness to change. Chemical addiction is a brain disease that should be humanely treated as a mental illness, physical disorder and spiritual sickness. We overcome the demon of denial; seek wholistic health and build up our Christian character as humane beings one day at a time. It ain’t brain surgery, but it does take hard work, courage and determination. Be addicted, meaning devoted, to your sober healthy recovery, not the suicidal evils of dope and booze.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”
~ Luke 4:18-19
