Open CASA Meeting Format

http://casa-12steps.blogspot.com/2006/06/open-casa-meeting-format.html

Welcome to the Sunday Evening Meeting of CASA ~~ Christians Against Substance Addiction ~~ ‘The Real Deal’ at the Salvation Army ‘Center of Hope’. My name is <Field Coordinator Name>, I am a recovering addict and your Group Conductor for this CASA Meeting.

Please join me in a moment of silence followed by the Complete Serenity Prayer:
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace. Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it. Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life, and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen!”

CASA (‘house’ in Spanish) stands for Christians Against Substance Addiction and is a progressive Christian recovery group based upon the original A.A. 12-Steps Program. We strongly support all positive self-help recovery groups, such as N.A., C.A. and D.R.A. (Dual Recovery Anonymous) based upon these 12-Steps. All recovery groups should help each other and not be divided like separate Church denominations. Thus, we support unity among all recovery groups, our recovery family and in our community in order to build up a strong recovery network in our lives for our continued sober recovery, spiritual liberty and future success. Unity is the key!

As Christians Against Substance Addiction, we advocate personal involvement in community action for our continued sober recovery and spiritual liberty. As the Serenity Prayer says, we must have the courage to change the things we can, including social conditions that make us want to escape from them by hiding in our addictions. At our CASA Meetings you are free to speak out about all evil addictions and related issues. The evils of our addictions impact on our society, our families and all our relations, not only ourselves.

Our CASA 12-Steps Program is a simple program for complicated people with a Spiritual Foundation. HOW it works is with Honesty, Openness and Willingness to change.

Chemical addiction is a brain disease that should be treated as a mental illness, physical disorder and spiritual sickness. We need to overcome all demons; seek wholistic health and build up our Christian character as humane beings one day at a time. It takes hard work, courage and determination to be into recovery and we believe we can recover. Be addicted, meaning devoted, to your sober healthy recovery, not the suicidal evils of dope and booze.

We seek inner serenity, true happiness and the end to suffering from all forms of drug addiction. We wage spiritual warfare against all evils. We are not ashamed to boldly claim Our Creator God as Our Highest Power and are believers in our Lord Jesus of Nazareth!
